WHAT SHOULD I KNOW BEFORE VISITING RAIN FOREST AND CORCOVADO NATIONAL PARK

 The rainforest in Costa Rica is a natural environment where naturalist guides are only environmental interpreters. Remember to be careful in the forest, always stay on the trails, respect and never feed the animals. Pay attention to wasps, bees, caterpillars, ants and other insects that may be in the leaves of trees. The rain forest has a very high humidity, always stay hydrated. There are areas with mosquitoes where it is advisable to use insect repellent.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING IN THE RAIN FOREST HIKES?

An explorer should always bring a backpack to the rainforest with:

enough water

insect repellent

sunscreen

your own medicines (if you need)

plastic sachets

ponchos (raincoat).

SHOULD I BRING MY CAMERA TO THE RAIN FOREST?

The rainforest will give us incredible opportunities for photographs. we should enjoy the moment, but a photo is always a nice memory. It is recommended to bring a small camera in your backpack. If your camera is not water proof bring a dry bag to protect your camera or smart phone.

IS THERE ANY DANGER IN THE RAIN FOREST?

 The rainforest in Costa Rica is natural and wild. we must be careful with several things when visiting the Costarican rainforest. There live large cats such as jaguars and pumas. On the other hand, some species of snakes and frogs can be dangerous. It is a hostile environment with high levels of humidity and sometimes high temperatures or a lot of rain. This unique habitat contains the greatest bio diversity on the planet. 

WHAT IS THE BEST MONTH TO VISIT CORCOVADO NATIONAL PARK

 The best time to visit if from December to April. During the rainy season (may to December) you should contact us ahead in regards to park access. There are amazing nature reserves to visist outside the park and rainy season is the best time to see the whales migration.  During octuber, the Sirena station is closed to public. The rest of the year the stations in Corcovado National park are open to public.

WHAT IS THE WHALE SEASON IN COSTA RICA?

 Officially our whale season is every year starting around July and with sightings until November.

DO I NEED A GUIDE TO VISIT CORCOVADO NATIONAL PARK?

To visit Corcovado National Park you need a certified guide registered in the list of accredited guides for Corcovado National Park. Visitors will not be able to enter without a guide. All our guides are accredited to take you to Corcovado National Park.

CAN I SLEEP IN THE CORCOVADO NATIONAL PARK?

Yes, it is possible to spend the night in the Sirena biological station. a previous reservation is required.

WHAT TOURS CAN I DO IN THE OSA PENINSULA?

Corcovado National Park is unique in the world. It has a wonderful biodiversity. You can take different tours to this wonderful protected area by different ranger stations. One or multi day tours are available. also in the surroundings of the park there is a unique natural wealth. Primate tours, bird tours, rainforest safari, whale and dolphin watching, snorkeling, specialized tours in the mangroves, night tour or simply visit deserted beaches. There are a large number of tour options in contact with nature that you can do in the Osa Peninsula.

WHERE CAN I SPEND A NIGHT IN THE RAIN FOREST?

There is an organization dedicated to the protection and study of the rainforests around the Corcovado National Park in the heart of the Osa Peninsula. With a reservation we can spend a night in the middle of the tropical rain forest in OSA CONSERVACION BIOLOGICAL ESTATION in the south of Costa Rica.

HOW TO GET TO OSA SAFARI HEADQUARTERS

Our main office is located in Puerto Jimenez downtown. This town is the main entrance to the Corcovado National Park. how to get here? from San Jose.

A 45-minute flight from the Pavas airport (nature air airline) or from Juan Santamaria International Airport in Alajuela (sansa airline) to Puerto Jimenez.
